Thunk3D JS300; Thunk3D JS500
There are many types of desktop 3D scanners in the market, with the label price as favourable as hundreds of bucks, it seems a good deal to most of the newbies.
Thunk3D would like to make some comments on these purchase options,
The first one is the sensor configure, it determines the captured images' resolution, sensor is the chip, we could easily read the pixel from the model type.
Thunk3D uses ON-semi sensor chip with 1.3mp pixel, the bmp captures are 1280*1080 metrix, equipping with 5mp lens, and phase shift structured light algorithm, the point cloud data (asc data)is very sharp when one pixel is to a right position in the metrix.
Please note that black dots are the efficient points while the blue dots are not, so it's not a realistic suggestion just updating 1.3 mp sensor to 5mp but regardless the projector's resolution.
Please also keep aware of some sellers' marketing for the 6.3 mp camera, acurally it's 1.3mp sensor +5mp lens misleading advertising.
The second comment is the durability, Thunk3D JS300 and JS500 both have metal shells, aluminum structure and metal turntable, laser cutting manufacturing ensures the product precision, the scanner body is heavy, but last long, we have the longest time user of JS300, who had been using the scanner for 11 years.
The last comment is the scanner's resolution, what's the minimum and maximum size the scanner could scan? According to our experience, if the FOV (projecting light area) is 12cm * 10cm, the optimal scan target's volume should be around5cm*5cm*5cm, and the minmum scan target volume should no smaller than 2cm*2cm*2cm, and the maximum scan target volume should be within 13cm*13cm*13cm.
The resolution could be displayed in the third party such as Geomagic, or calucated via the formula: FOV÷rastor's progressive scanning times, for example, Thunk3D JS500's FOV is 8cm*6cm, and the raster is 1280p, then the optimal resolution is 80mm÷1280=0.062mm, based on the hardware limit, we suggest the targets volume are from 3mm*3mm*3mm, to 100*100*100mm.
Thunk3D only focus on 3D scanning industry, as the original 3D scanner manufacturer, we could do hardware OEM, configure customization, and provide software API for your secondary development.
